MONO Threads

Mono threads (also known as PDO threads – polydioxanone) are short absorbable threads which are used to stimulate collagen and elastin production. These thin filament threads are inserted under the skin in order to smooth fine lines and wrinkly skin in the facial and neck areas.

This procedure is minimally invasive and suitable for those who want skin rejuvenation without volumising.

Our cosmetic physician will first provide a thorough and comprehensive consult to assess if you are suitable to undergo this treatment.

Please advise our doctor if you are regularly taking anti-coagulation therapy, have any auto-immune or skin condition and have any past facial surgeries.

Avoid alcohol and smoking.

This treatment is recommended to be scheduled a week prior to a special occasion or event.

If you are on blood-thinning medication such as aspirin, you will need to avoid these medication one week before treatment day.

This minimally invasive procedure is performed by our cosmetic physician and requires no general anaesthesia. Topical anaesthetic gel is used to minimise any pain or discomfort. Several threads are inserted using a cannulated needle into the skin’s superficial layers. The cannula needle is then removed and the filament threads are left under the skin.

Low downtime with minimal pain. Treatment takes approximately 30 to 60 minutes.

Post treatment minor bruising, redness, swelling and skin irregularities are common and expected at the treated sites. These will resolve over time, generally by the first week.

Improvements in skin quality is gradual, over 3-4months.

Mono threads are collagen stimulators that dissolves after 6 months but the effect can last for approximately 12 to 18 months.

Annual treatment is recommended for maintenance.

Results may vary from person to person.

Combination of mono threads with other treatment types can yield best results. Talk to our cosmetic physician for your customised treatment plan.

Our doctor will assess suitability to undergo this treatment. Please book in for an initial consult and our doctor will address your concerns.
