HIKO Nose Threads

“HIKO” actually translates to “High Nose” in Korean. By treating the nose in a 3-dimensional plane, HIKO thread lift not only adds height to the nose bridge, but it also makes the nose tip more prominent and nostrils less rounded, giving the nose a sharper, higher and more elegant look.

HIKO nose thread lift is made of PDO (polydioxanone) that are 100% bio-compatible and bio-absorbable. The procedure has 2 key advantages. Firstly, it physically adds volume and by acting as a scaffold, contours the nose to its desired height and shape, exerting a lifting effect on the nose bridge immediately for a more defined and ideal nose shape. The threads last about 6 to 9 months before fully absorbed by the human body. Secondly, the PDO threads initiates inflammation, which subsequently develops into immature collagen fibers. During the naturally occurring gradual process of absorption of the PDO material, collagen is stimulated, helping to maintain and improve results further. The collagen stimulation effect lasts up to 18 months.

This procedure is performed by our cosmetic physician and is a less invasive alternative to a surgical rhinoplasty with lower cost, minimal risks and low downtime.

Our cosmetic physician will first provide a thorough and comprehensive consult to assess if you are suitable to undergo this treatment.

Please advise our doctor if you are regularly taking anti-coagulation therapy, have any auto-immune or skin condition and have any past facial surgeries.

Avoid alcohol and smoking.

This treatment is recommended to be scheduled a week prior to a special occasion or event.

If you are on blood-thinning medication such as aspirin, you will need to avoid these medication one week before treatment day.

This minimally invasive procedure is performed by our cosmetic physician and requires no general anaesthesia. Local anaesthetic is injected into the nose tip, along the nose bridge and along the nasal septum to the philtrum to minimise pain or discomfort during the procedure. A thin needle or cannula will be used to insert the threads through the nasal tip and horizontally along the nasal bridge, under the skin of the nose. Typically, 6 to 10 threads are inserted to achieve the desired nose height and definition. If an increase in nasal tip projection is also required, then threads are also inserted through the nasal tip and vertically along the columella.

Low downtime. The procedure generally takes about 30 to 45 minutes. Patients are able to return to work the same day if desired.

Post treatment swelling due to the local anaesthesia is expected which usually wears off in a few hours. Minor bruising may also occur along the nasal bridge and generally resolves within a week naturally. Some patients might feel temporary discomfort and tightness of the nose region for the next 1 to 3 days.

Lifting results are immediate and can last for approximately 12 to 18 months. Annual treatment is recommended for maintenance.

The major advantage of using nose thread lift versus dermal fillers is that it is a much safer procedure than dermal fillers. The threads do not migrate, causing broadening of the nose or what is known as an “avatar” like nose. In addition, there is a risk of blindness or skin necrosis due to vessel occlusion with fillers and this risk is minimised using threads. Even if fillers are used to further enhance results, the amount required is generally much lesser compared to having use fillers as a standalone procedure.

Results may vary from person to person.

Combination of nose thread lift with dermal fillers are sometimes required to produce the best results. Talk to our cosmetic physician for your customised treatment plan.
