Green Genesis and Laser Genesis Canberra

During your Green Genesis and/or Laser Genesis consultation:

Our cosmetic physician will have a face-to-face consultation with you where you can discuss your concerns or questions about the treatment. Please ensure that all makeup is removed well before your consultation for an accurate examination of your facial skin. You may leave your sunscreen on (preferably untinted), which can be removed during consultation.

Please advise our cosmetic physician if you are:

• regularly taking anti-coagulation therapy
• have a skin condition
• have a history of herpes or cold sores (anti-viral medication pre and post treatment is highly recommended to prevent outbreak of cold sores. It can be prescribed to you if needed)

To ensure skin is in optimal condition before Green Genesis and/or Laser Genesis treatment, a lightening cream or skin preparation cream may be prescribed by our cosmetic physician to be used for 2 to 4 weeks during the initial consultation. 

Skin preparation / requirement before Green Genesis and/or Laser Genesis treatment:

The key to achieving desirable results with Green Genesis and/or Laser Genesis is to use a combination of sun protection regularly. Use SPF 50+ sunscreen regularly and sun protection clothing (e.g., hats, long sleeves shirts, umbrella). Always reapply sunscreen every 2 hours.

Avoid extended sun exposure such as beach, travel to sunny locations, sunbathing, outdoor sports.

Stop use of topical retinol or retinoic acid for 1 week prior to treatment.

No recent sunburn experience or fake tans for at least 4 weeks prior to treatment.

No isotretinoin for at least 6 months prior to treatment.

On the day of Green Genesis and/or Laser Genesis treatment appointment:

Please come without heavy makeup on face. Use sunscreen only and this will be removed at clinic before treatment.

Please leave jewellery (e.g., earrings, piercings, necklaces, bracelets, etc.) at home or remove them before treatment.

Wear a wide brim hat or use umbrella before and after treatment.

The area of skin being treated is firstly cleansed and the patient’s eyes are protected with safety shields or glasses. Face is marked with removable white marker to map the treatment zones.

During the treatment, the laser handpiece is moved over the skin in gentle, sweeping motions. Patients typically feel a warm, soothing sensation. Areas with hair (especially darker hair colour) may experience slight discomfort. Sessions last about 15-30 minutes, depending on treatment area and complexities, with no downtime.

Multiple treatments are recommended for optimal results.

Very minimal to no downtime with no pain.

Multiple consistent sessions, usually 3 to6 treatments spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart are recommended for optimal results. For darker skin type, more sessions will be required for safer treatment.

Patient can resume normal activity post treatment, as long as patient avoids excess heat, sun exposure and exercises.

Makeup can be applied immediately post treatment.

Treatment takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes, depending on treatment areas and complexities.

Patients can expect gradual, visible improvements after 3 to 6 sessions. Green Genesis reduces redness, broken capillaries, and pigmentation, while Laser Genesis smooths fine lines, minimises pores, and improves skin texture. Over time, the skin appears more even-toned, radiant, firmer, and youthful, with a natural, healthy glow.

Results are cumulative, with optimal effects seen after completing the recommended treatment course. Maintenance sessions may be advised to sustain long-term benefits and address ongoing skin concerns.

Treatment is not be suitable if you:

• Are pregnant or are trying to become pregnant
• Are breastfeeding
• Have epilepsy or migraines triggered by flashing lights
• Have porphyria
• Are on photosensitising medications or have light sensitive disorders
• Have used isotretinoin within last 6 months prior to treatment
• Have open wounds or skin injury
• Have recent sunburn, prolonged unprotected sun exposure or solarium use 4 weeks prior to treatment
• Have used fake tans 4 weeks prior to treatment
• Are on anti-coagulant medication or heavy aspirin use
• Have an active infection and/or compromised immune system.
• Have a history of keloid or hypertrophic scar formation
• Have skin cancers or skin infections
• Have very dark skin colour (Fitzpatrick skin type IV)
